Major Arcana

The Tarot deck is broken down into two basic divisions -- the Major Arcana, and the Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana consists of the first 22 cards of the Tarot Deck. These first 22 cards can be viewed as a journey through life.

The Major Arcana are the cards of the true Archetypal experiences. By following the trail of the Major Arcana from the oblivious Fool to the perfection and completion signified in The World, these cards carry the stronger messages in a Tarot Spread. For example, if a person has all major arcana cards in their spread it is said to be loaded with the Major Arcana. (Remember, in the standard Tarot Deck there are a total of 78 cards!)

The Major Arcana are the power cards. Study of these cards can give you distinct and clear information about the message. So if there's a significant amount of the Major Arcana is your spread today, make sure to pay particular attention to the messages!
